The autonomous communities of Asturias and Cantabria are part of First edition of Spain Is (Much) More 2025, the new project promoted by Turespaña, in collaboration with Paradores and around the Most Beautiful Towns, which seeks to strengthen the international promotion of domestic and sustainable tourism in Spain.
From October 19 to 23, journalists, content creators and international influencers will travel six simultaneous routes through the peninsula to discover the natural, cultural and gastronomic heritage of the country.

La Northern Route from Spain, designed for Latin American journalists and creators, they will tour some of the most emblematic landscapes of northern Spain, from the Cantabrian coasts to the Asturian mountains, offering travelers a unique experience in two of the most authentic regions of Spain.
Cantabria and Asturias connect deeply with the Latin American traveler: for its impressive and exuberant nature, with landscapes such as the Picos de Europa and the Costa Quebrada, ideal for slow tourism and away from the masses; the Indiana architecture, with its strong historical link with Latin America, adds an emotional attraction to the experience, creating a deep connection between tourists and the localities they visit and that invites to live the closest and most genuine Spain. A Northern Itinerary of Luxury in Emblematic Paradores
The itinerary, of 483 km in four stages, combines history, landscape and gastronomy through accommodations in emblematic Paradores de Turismo of both regions: Limpias, Santillana del Mar, Fuente Dé and Cangas de Onís.
They’ll discover locality ace Liérganes, Comillas, Santillana del Mar, Potes or Magroviejo (Most Beautiful Towns in Spain) and other gems of the north such as San Vicente de la Barquera, Potes, Cabrales or Covadonga, enjoying local gastronomic experiences —Asturian Fabada, cooked Montañés, artisan cheeses or traditional cider— that visitors can enjoy in local markets, wineries or cheeses, which reinforce the spirit of slow travel.
The Northern Route begins in the coastal towns of Castro Urdiales and Laredo and during the tour include others such as Santoña and Liérganes, two localities that reflect the Cantabrian tradition. In addition, you will visit the Picos de Europa National Park, as well as Comillas, San Vicente de la Barquera or Potes. Finally, travelers will arrive in Asturias visiting the council of Cabrales, Covadonga or Cangas de Onís.
A window for Asturian and Cantabrian tourism
The contents created by the participants —photographs, videos and reports— will be disseminated on the international channels of Turespaña, after a joint session in La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia), where the closing ceremony will be held on October 23.
The initiative was born with Vocation of Continuity And it aims to consolidate itself as an international showcase of inland tourism. In future editions it is planned to incorporate new destinations and experiences, always under the philosophy of the leisurely journey and authentic experiences. A new activity of Turespaña linked to the current campaign of “Think You Know Spain? Think Again’, working to strengthen marketing and coordination with destinations and in line with the Tourism Strategy 2030 of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
