Next Monday, August 4, Pedro Casares will take office as a government delegate in Cantabria. The institutional event will be held at 12:00 am at the Paraninfo of the University of Cantabria, in Santander, and will be chaired by the Minister of Economy, Carlos Corps.
The appointment was approved by the Council of Ministers this week and published in the Official State Gazette last Wednesday. The takeover will take place just a few days after your appointment.
Pedro Casares, born in Santander in 1983, is a PhD in Economics, a university professor and has developed an intense political career. Until now he has been a member of Congress, where he has served as spokesperson for the PSOE in economic matters. He was previously a councillor and municipal spokesperson in the City of Santander, and since March 2025 he is general secretary of the PSOE of Cantabria.
With his inauguration, he takes over from Eugenia Gómez de Diego, a government delegate since December 2023.
