The Government, through the Ministry of Equality, allocates 3,092,174.73 million euros to Cantabria for the fight against gender violence. This has been agreed on Monday by the Ministry of Equality and the autonomous communities and cities at the Sectoral Conference on Equality, which has distributed a total of 179.8 million euros.
The distribution is made after the authorization of the Council of Ministers and meets the distribution criteria established by the Sectorial Conference, the highest co-governance body between the Ministry of Equality and the autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla.
Minister Ana Redondo, who chaired the Sectoral Conference on Equality, stressed the importance of incorporating more resources, “in total 20 million more” and called for unity “in the coordinated struggle of all administrations to eradicate once and for all male violence.”
The more than three million euros that Cantabria will receive are intended for two areas. On the one hand, about 2.5 million euros will be directed to the development of the State Pact against Gender Violence.
This item has a total of 160 million euros that have been distributed between the CCAA, Ceuta and Melilla and that will be used to finance programs to combat gender violence and other forms of male violence included in the measures of the Pact, which must be promoted by the autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla, within the scope of their competences in 2025.
Through this finalist fund, the Government guarantees its economic commitment to ensure the stability and permanence of public policies and services derived from the State Pact against Gender Violence, consolidating work against violence against women throughout the State.
In short, it is a question of coordinating a comprehensive, effective and coordinated response from all institutions with competence in the field of preventing and combating violence against women; maintaining and improving, throughout the territory of the State, the network of resources, services and benefits aimed at the protection, assistance, support, recovery and reparation of victims of violence against women; and promoting actions to raise awareness and prevent violence against women or strengthening the training of all professionals working with victims, in order to guarantee the best institutional response.
Autonomous programs
Finally, the remaining 622,993.74 euros that Cantabria will have will be invested in different regional programs and plans aimed at victims of gender violence and sexual violence.
In total, the State will allocate 19.8 million for different programs and autonomous plans linked to the victims of gender violence and sexual violence. Specifically, this amount, included in the budget of expenses of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, will finance the development of four programs throughout 2025.
These are programmes to give effect to the right to comprehensive social assistance for women victims of gender-based violence and their minor children; programmes for the implementation of the common proposal to improve the coordination and implementation of personalized plans for the care of victims of gender-based violence; and programmes for the support of victims of sexual assault and the prevention of sexual exploitation of minors under guardianship.
