The program ‘Administration Near You’, managed by the Government Delegation in Cantabria, has arrived at the University of Cantabria with the aim of providing students with access to e-government. Through a face-to-face information session, staff of the Government Delegation explained the use of digital tools such as the electronic certificate and the Cl@ve system, which are essential to carry out procedures with the public administration.
During the day, attendees have received information on the most common services, such as consultation of working life, clinical history, Social Security or the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), as well as the request for registration certificates, benefits or prior appointments. In addition, those who have wanted it have been able to obtain on the spot the means of identification necessary to operate digitally with the administration.
The government delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, highlighted the usefulness of this program for young people: “We want nobody to get lost when it comes to doing an online procedure. Many times we do not know where to start or what we need to do a management with the administration, and with these sessions we explain it clearly and simply.” In addition, he stressed that "nowadays, from mobile or computer you can make many arrangements without wasting time on trips, and we want students to know all the options available to them".
Since its launch in 2022, ‘La Administración Cerca de Ti’ has benefited more than 1,200 people in Cantabria, initially focusing on municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants. For a few months now, the programme has extended its scope to specific groups, such as university and vocational students, in order to strengthen accessibility to public services in an increasingly digitised society.
In this new phase, the Government Delegation is arranging more visits to educational centers with the support of the High Inspection of Education, especially in vocational training, to facilitate access to digital administration for young people who are close to joining the labor market. Likewise, collaboration is maintained with municipalities interested in offering this service to their citizens, including localities with more than 8,000 inhabitants.
With these actions, the program promoted by the Ministry of Territorial Policy, reinforces its commitment to equal opportunities in access to public services, bringing digital administration closer to key sectors of the population.
Meeting with the Ministry
Just this morning, the Government delegate held a videoconference with the Secretary General of Territorial Coordination, Miryam Álvarez, and the Director General of the General Administration of the State, Agustín Torres, in which they analyzed the progress of this program.
In addition to reviewing the data, Gómez de Diego wanted to highlight the "effort and commitment" demonstrated by the staff of the Government Delegation to bring the services of the General Administration of the State to all corners of the region, facilitating the processing of démarches to citizens, especially in the smaller municipalities.
