The delegate of the Government in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, reaffirmed on Wednesday the commitment of her institution with the municipalities to "advance in digitalization, reduce the technological gap and reinforce the fight against gender violence ". During a meeting with mayors organized at the CIMA together with the Federation of Cantabrian Municipalities, Gómez de Diego presented some of the programs promoted by the Government of Spain and assured that “cooperation between the administrations is fundamental to build a stronger, more connected and fairer Cantabria”.
Among the initiatives highlighted by the delegate is 'The Administration Near You', which facilitates access to the electronic services of the General Administration of the State and allows to carry out procedures in an agile and simple way, avoiding displacements, which is especially of interest in rural areas.
Since its launch two years ago, the initiative has facilitated 913 electronic accreditations and has benefited a thousand citizens through sessions organized in municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants. The delegate has announced that the program will now be extended to larger localities and has encouraged the consistories to adhere to the agreement that allows access to the service free of charge.
In the business sphere, the delegate highlighted the importance of the Digital Kit, a program that, as she explained, "supports the technological transformation of SMEs, self-employed and microenterprises, promoting tools such as electronic invoicing, online commerce and online presence. " To date, more than 4,800 Cantabrian companies have received aid amounting to 21 million euros. Gómez de Diego has encouraged mayors to spread this initiative among the local business fabric, highlighting its relevance to strengthen the competitiveness and growth of companies.

In addition, it has highlighted as a priority the expansion of the Violeta Points, information, awareness and support spaces in the fight against gender violence. So far four Cantabrian municipalities have joined this initiative that the Delegation has just launched at the municipal level. Thus, Gómez de Diego has urged local administrations to join this network, remembering that "violence against women is a structural problem that requires the involvement of all society and public institutions ".
Gómez de Diego has concluded or the meeting thanking the mayors for their willingness, while reiterating the support of the institution: “From the Government Delegation, you will always find an open door, because the best way to serve Cantabria is to collaborate closely with those who are in the front line "
