Adif will carry out the suppression of two steps at level located in the Cantabrian municipality of Santa Cruz de Bezana, within the Oviedo-Santander metric width line, to which it will allocate an investment of 2.79 million euros.
The steps have automatic semi-barriers and light and acoustic signals and are located 500 meters and 900 meters, respectively, from the Bezana station.
The solution envisages the construction of an upper pass over the railway line for vehicles and pedestrians, which will be located in the immediate vicinity of the current level passes. In addition, a new vial will be built that will link the upper passage with the current vials.
The works, awarded to Extraco Construccions e Proxects, include the adaptation of safety facilities and the replacement of railway communications and other services, as well as the installation of a new enclosure once both steps have been eliminated.
The works, integrated into the Cantabria Commuter Plan, will increase the reliability and safety conditions of transport infrastructures, both for pedestrians and for rail and road traffic.
These actions contribute to the achievement of different Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 3 (Health and Welfare), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
