The Civil Guard of Cantabria will establish next Wednesday, September 4, a special security and traffic device on the occasion of the celebration in the Autonomous Community of the 17th Stage of La Vuelta a España, which will be developed between Arnuero and Santander.
During the celebration of the Safety Board of La Vuelta Bicista 2024 as it passes through Cantabria, the delegate of the Government, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, wanted to “thank all the people involved for the work of making this important event develop safely and normally. The Vuelta is a very important cycling event, recognized worldwide, which is received in Cantabria with expectation and ganas.La stage is going to be beautiful”.
The stage of the Cycling Tour to Spain 2024 through Cantabria will pass through twelve municipalities of the Autonomous Community and will force to cut three links of the A-67, A-8 and S-10 motorways and different autonomous roads along the route that the cyclists will make.
The stage, number 17 of the race, will have a route of 143 kilometers will depart from the monument to Juan Castillo, in Arnuero, and will travel, among others, the towns of Somo, Santa María de Cayón, Selaya, Puente Viesgo and Liencres, to the goal of Santander.
In addition to the special device in the Autonomous Community, the Civil Guard creates as in previous years the Mobility and Road Safety Unit that accompanies and protects La Vuelta throughout its journey.
This Mobility and Road Safety Unit (UMSV) is composed of a total of 134 personnel, composed of personnel from the Traffic Grouping, the Reserve and Safety Grouping (ARS), the Air Service, Transmission Service and Motoring.
The fundamental mission of this unit is to provide security and mobility to the La Vuelta corridors, organizational vehicles, support and advertising caravan, as well as to guarantee road safety to the rest of users affected by the development of the event.
To carry out this work, the Traffic Group contributes 59 motorcycles, a helicopter and other vehicles to the device.
Along with this special unit, in Cantabria a special security and traffic device has also been programmed by the Civil Guard and in which agents of the local police and volunteers of Civil Protection of the municipalities through which the route will pass will also collaborate.
For this special device of the La Vuelta stage in Cantabria, which will take place from 13.00 to 18.00 hours approximately, the Command of the Civil Guard of Cantabria allocates 87 personnel from the Traffic and Citizen Security Sector.
MAIN TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
In the course of La Vuelta through the region, you will have to cut three links with the A-8 and A-67 motorways and on the S-10
In particular, the Boo de Piélagos (pk 195), S-10 Pontejos – Sarón (pk 7) and the Renedo-Vargas (N-623) links will be affected in the A-67 stage, in both directions of circulation.
The cuts in these links will be duly signaled both in the panels of the motorways and in different panels that, will be managed by the DGT and the Civil Guard.
