The Ministry of Finance has informed Cantabria that it will receive 2,487 million euros in instalments for the financial year 2025, in a letter that shows both the provisional amount of the instalments on account of the resources of the Financing System next year and the forecast of the definitive liquidation of that system for 2023.
"These are the largest account deliveries in history and represent an increase of 6.8% compared to the 2,329 million euros received by Cantabria in account deliveries in 2024," said the Government delegate in Cantabria, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, in a statement.
The payments on account are the substantial part of the system of autonomous financing and are calculated from the tax resources that are estimated to be paid throughout the year as income tax (the autonomous tariff) and the percentages established by the law that corresponds to each Autonomous Community of VAT and Special Taxes and that the Central State advances. Its calculation is linked to the information available at the time of preparation of the preliminary draft Law on General Budgets of the State.
In this way, the Autonomous Communities will receive 147,412 million euros in delivery on account next year. It’s the biggest figure in history. These numbers confirm the Government’s commitment to providing sufficient resources for all territories, so that they can provide the highest quality public services for which they are responsible.
The increase in payments is a reflection of the expectation that economic growth in Spain will continue and is also a symptom that the measures developed by the Government to mitigate the economic consequences of the pandemic and now of the invasion of Ukraine will have an effect to give continuity to the recovery and job creation.
15.5 billion euros
As for the forecast of the final liquidation for the year 2023, Cantabria for this concept, will receive 197.6 million euros. This means that this Autonomous Community will have a total of 2,665.6 million euros available from the autonomous financing system, taking into account the refund of advances due to the postponement of the negative settlements of 2008 and 2009.
For its part, adding up the 2023 liquidation and the 2025 installments, all the Autonomous Communities of common system will have resources totaling 158,167 million euros next year.
"Cantabria, in the Government stage of President Pedro Sánchez, will have had resources worth 15,516 million euros. This figure includes, in addition to regular funding, the distribution of extraordinary funds that the Executive mobilized to counteract the effects of COVID-19. This means that in the last seven years this Autonomous Community will have had financing 41% higher than that received in the mandate of Mariano Rajoy, that is, 4,503 million more", concluded Gómez de Diego.
