The Cantabrian CH has begun maintenance and conservation work on the Campiezo River between the confluence with the Vados stream to the immediate vicinity of the town of Beranga, in the municipal areas of Escalante, Meruelo and Hazas de Cesto. These works are carried out with the aim of avoiding or reducing possible overflows and margin detachments in small avenues.
In some points of the Campiezo river’s riverbed, the accumulation of fallen and at risk of falling trees is observed, which means the reduction of the drainage section of the riverbed.
The actions, with an approximate investment of 22,300 €, consist of the removal of plant remains, and the aping, unravelling and cutting of trees at risk of falling in 4327 m of riverbed.
This work is carried out through the public company Tragsa within the Maintenance and Conservation of Waterways Program developed by the Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation outside urban areas, in which the conservation and maintenance of waterways are the responsibility of the municipalities.
