The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) foresees more than 87,000 trips in Cantabria along the Special Operation by the bridge of October 12, which starts this Wednesday at 3 p.m. and will last until Sunday.
In the region, one of the most conflictive points of traffic will be the area near Torrelavega, at the junction between the A-67 and the A-8. And, on the other hand, the A-8 withholdings are also foreseen in the area between Laredo and the border with the Basque Country. Likewise, in the accesses to the main tourist areas of the region, a greater presence of vehicles is expected during these days.
In Cantabria, for the development of this special operation, the Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard will deploy up to 180 agents who will be deployed on the roads to facilitate the movement and fluidity of the circulation, also counting on the collaboration of the different local police of Cantabria.
In addition, in Cantabria there are 10 operating radars, one of them for a stretch (on the N-629, between the towns of Limpias and Ampuero), and it has three mobile control cameras and safety belt, two of them on the A-67 and one on the A-8.
In the country as a whole, the DGT forecasts more than 7.45 million displacements in these days.
The DGT always recommends, before starting the trip, to be informed of the weather forecasts at the State Meteorological Agency, and of course plan the trip by the safest route to avoid unforeseen events.
From the twitter accounts @informacionDGT and @DGTes or the news bulletins on radio and television, as well as on the phone 011, the situation of the traffic is reported in real time and any incidents that may exist.
The entire device set up, as well as tips or alternative itineraries, can be consulted in https://www.dgt.es/es/el-trafico/recomendaciones/operaciones-especiales/
ATTENTION TO BIKERS AND DISTRACTIONS
The DGT makes a special appeal to motorcycle users, after the previous weekend 9 of the 11 deaths in traffic were motorcyclists. In the case of Cantabria, three motorcyclists have died in recent weeks.
Since most motorcycle trips are linked to the very enjoyment of travel in moments of leisure, it is important not to forget that it is essential to maintain correct behavior on the road at all times to avoid the tragic consequences that failure to do so may have.
The profile of the deceased motorcyclist is that of a man between 35 and 64 years old who drives a high-cylinder motorcycle, more than 10 years old, on a conventional road at the weekend. Therefore, a call to all those who go to travel by motorcycle during this bridge.
In addition, it is recalled that during this week the DGT is carrying out a special campaign to monitor distractions at the wheel; a campaign in which volunteers from Aspaym (Association of People with Spinal Injury and other physical disabilities) who approach drivers, when required by ATGC agents in the controls, to transmit messages of awareness and respect for traffic rules.
