The Cantabrian Hydrographic Confederation carries out maintenance, conservation and improvement work on several Cantabrian rivers with the aim of avoiding the formation of clogging and thus maintaining the drainage capacity in the channels.

The actions have an initial budget of 55,000 € and are aimed at the extraction of these deposits of dead vegetable material. These works are carried out mainly manually, with timely support of machinery for the mechanical assistance of the remains. The removal of anthropogenic waste found in the channels is also carried out.

Prior to the beginning of the work, the rescue and subsequent liberation of fish fauna through electric fishing has been carried out.
In the municipality of Corvera de Toranzo, as a result of these floods, there are numerous deposits of dead vegetation in the interior of the river, which increases the risk of obstruction in future avenues. The actions aimed at reducing the risk of clogging and improving the drainage capacity of the Pas river channel have an initial budget of € 9500.
Rio Pámanes
In the municipality of Liérganes, between the towns of Pámanes and El Condado, on the occasion of the follow-up of actions carried out to improve the longitudinal connectivity of the waterways, it is observed that in the river of Pámanes there has been the fall of several large trees that have been dragged by the current. In the same way, other trees are detected on the banks of the river, with similar characteristics and with the possibility of falling, which must be pruned or felled depending on their characteristics to avoid falling into the river bed.
The performances have an initial budget of 16.000 €. The works are carried out manually and with timely support of machinery both for the work of apeo and pruning, and for the extraction of vegetation from the riverbed.
