The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has listed the works for the expansion of capacity of the A-67 motorway between Polanco and Santander, in Cantabria, with a budget of 202.9 million euros (VAT included).
The action is located in the main corridor of communication between the two main populations of the region, Santander and Torrelavega, located specifically in the municipal areas of Polanco, Miengo, Piélagos, Santa Cruz de Bezana and Camargo. The section of motorway in which it is operated has an approximate length of 13 km in which are the links of Polanco, Oruña, Boo, Mompía and Igollo and the service area of Gornazo, corresponding to the motorway A-67 “Cantabria – Meseta”.
The main objective is to solve the capacity and safety problems presented by the A-67 between the links of Polanco and Igollo, expanding the cross-section of both roads since it will have a third lane additional to those already existing.
In addition, on the current route of the A-67 motorway, a series of improvements are made such as: expansion of radius of the curves; elimination of certain alignments; widening of edges, which will allow to increase visibility; expansion of median or improvement of the safety of the links by replacing intersections with roundabouts or increasing the radius of the existing roundabouts.
It should be noted that the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology is incorporated for the first time. The implementation of this methodology both in the modeling phase of the project and in the construction phase allows to optimize the resources in both phases and in the subsequent maintenance of the infrastructure, thus generating long-term value. This adoption of the BIM demonstrates Mitma’s commitment to being at the forefront of technology and innovation in construction, providing more effective and sustainable solutions for our infrastructures.
