The Fifth Emergency Intervention Battalion (BIEM V), of the Military Emergency Unit (UME), will hold, between February 28 and March 1, a conference of collaboration and knowledge exchange with teams from the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.
The works will consist of the sharing of methods and tools that are used in Cantabria for the extinguishment of fires. Likewise, the possibility of executing a prescribed burn will be assessed according to the fuel valuation and the orographic and climatological conditions.
This meeting belongs to the set of preparatory activities that BIEM V organizes for the campaign to fight forest fires.
On this occasion, the operation will be composed of 40 military and 15 vehicles among which stand out: six self-pumps, a nurse, an ambulance, a ‘Mérida’ transmission vehicle and various heavy and light vehicles.
On the part of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria, the participating teams depend on the Ministry of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Environment of the region.
