The government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, has appointed María Jesús de la Cruz Montserrat as island director of the General Administration of the State in Fuerteventura.
Graduated in Geography and History from the University of La Laguna (ULL), María Jesús de la Cruz is a career civil servant belonging to the Secondary School Teachers Corps and is part of the Regional Executive of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party of the Canary Islands, within the Senior Citizens Area.
She has held positions of councilor both in the opposition and in the government in the City of Puerto del Rosario, from 1999 to 2005, and as councilor of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura from 2019 to 2023, being also coordinator in the Insular Direction of Education in Fuerteventura between 2011 and 2015.
