As part of the activities organized on the occasion of 25N, the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands and Correos distribute 8175 postcards in schools with the image of the winning drawings of last year’s children’s contest to send messages against gender violence.
The Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, accompanied by the Subdelegate of the Government in Las Palmas, Teresa Mayans, attended this morning the CEIP Siete Palmas, center that won last year the Canary Islands Pictorial Contest for Gender Equality on the island of Gran Canaria.
The manager of the Human Resources Department of the Insular Area, Mª Elena Luis Luis, and the director of the CEIP Siete Palmas Center, María Isabel Ramírez Sánchez, were also present.
“Once again, on the occasion of the 25N, the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands promotes an initiative aimed at schools to promote and raise awareness against Gender Violence, through the distribution of postcards with the drawings created by the girls and boys winners of last year’s infaltil pictorial contest,” says Anselmo Pestana.
“It is intended to raise awareness through the educational field, in a creative way girls and boys express their perspective on equality by sending significant messages to their loved ones. This process not only encourages the active participation of students, but also contributes to cultivating an egalitarian mindset from an early age”, he adds.
These postcards have been distributed to teacher education centres (CEPs) on the islands for distribution to schools throughout the archipelago. In this way, the girls and boys of the Canary Islands can have these postcards and send messages about gender equality to their friends or acquaintances.
Each island has its own postcard with the image of last year’s winning drawing. They have been distributed according to this breakdown:
- LANCELOT: 900
- FUERTEVENTURA: 1.075
- GRAN CANARIA: 2,600
- TENERIFE: 2,600
- LA GOMERA: 450
- LA PALMA: 350
- THE IRON: 200
In addition, the students of the CEIP Siete Palmas have prepared seven postcards that are addressed to the following institutions with competence in the field of equality: Presidency of the Government of Spain, Ministry of Equality, Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Canary Institute of Equality, Presidency of the Cabildo Insuldar de Gran Canaria, Ministry of Equality of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
