The government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, has presented today in the municipality of Alajeró (La Gomera) the plan “The Administration near you”, with which the Ministry of Territorial Policy wants to facilitate that the inhabitants of the less populated municipalities do not have to travel and can carry out the procedures from their localities of residence.
In an event held in the House of Culture of the Gomero municipality, Anselmo Pestana has been accompanied by the island director of the General Administration of the State in La Gomera, Juan Luis Navarro, and by the mayor of Alajeró, Manuel Plasencia.
“This Government wants to bring the State Administration closer to all the citizens of the Canary Islands. That is why the Government Delegation, through its different headquarters in the Archipelago, has been visiting since last November the less populated municipalities of our islands, those with greater difficulties of access to our administration, to be able to meet their needs in a more effective way,” says the Government delegate.
“The plan put in place by the Ministry of Territorial Policy is already giving its first results, providing digital certificates to citizens in less populated municipalities and with greater difficulties of face-to-face access to the Administration, and resolving doubts in information points close to their homes. From the Government we want to show that the State is also an administration of proximity, close to the people, regardless of the geographical distance that separates us from the Ministries,” he adds.
About 164,000 beneficiaries of the plan in the Canary Islands
Last November and December, officials of the Government Delegation working in its various offices in the Canary Islands visited some twenty municipalities of the Archipelago, facilitating access to the Public Services Charter available, reporting on the advantages of the Citizens’ Portfolio, whose mobile application has been launched by the Government, and providing information on the means of identification and digital signature.
In a second phase already this 2023, the citizens will be processed in situ the requests for services provided by the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands, the Government Subdelegations in Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and the Island Directorates in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro, and information will also be provided on the most requested services.
A total of 40 municipalities and some 164,000 people from all the Canary Islands are going to benefit from this plan, being able to approach their City Council directly to have the digital signature, with which they can access the digital procedures and services, thus avoiding unnecessary travel and the economic cost they represent.
The plan “The Administration near you” is designed for municipalities with between 500 and 8,000 inhabitants and in some provinces with greater population dispersion, also with a population of less than 500 inhabitants, which in the whole country means more than 3,200 municipalities and more than 7.5 million beneficiaries, almost 30% of them over 60 years of age.
Throughout Spain, “La Administración cerca de ti” has held in the first two months of its implementation 807 informative sessions, attended by 6,544 people, and has provided almost 3,700 digital certificates or access to Cl@ve Permanente in small municipalities.
