The Government Delegation in Asturias joins the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a program that seeks to raise awareness in society from several fronts: through a digital campaign, with face-to-face activities and with the institutional act in which the recognition and mentions Menina 2024 will be given.
The Government Delegation thus reaffirms its commitment to eradicating gender-based violence and building a more egalitarian society, in which all women can live free from violence.
Institutional act
The main event will be held on the 27th to give the recognition Menina 2024 to the professor, writer and expert in coeducation Marián Moreno, and the mentions to the local police of Oviedo and Gijón and to the network of labor counselors of gender violence of the Public Employment Service of the Principality of Asturias.
Digital campaign
On Monday 18, a social media campaign will begin that aims to promote a clear message of awareness and action, joining efforts in the fight against violence against women and directed at young people. It is structured in a series of short videos starring renowned references from different areas in Asturias, such as sport, journalism, social networks, rural environment, gastronomy and culture. In addition, on November 25 we will broadcast an official video of the campaign.
Chat with young people
Emphasizing the need to raise awareness among young people in the fight against violence suffered by women, on the 26th the students of the IES Monte Naranco will attend a talk given by Marián Moreno at the headquarters of the Government Delegation.
Podcast on gender violence
On the 26th in the afternoon we will record the podcast ‘25N: beside them’ at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, presented by journalists Aitana Castaño and Marta Pérez and attended by representatives of the women’s advisory centers. The microphones will include the Government delegate, the Director of Equality of the Principality, the head of the Unit for Coordination against Violence against Women, the people recognized in the Meninas, and spokespersons for the State Security Forces and Corps. The podcast will be broadcast on social networks.
Training for AGE staff
In the Government Delegation we continue to promote the accession of state agencies to the Violeta Points network, an instrument promoted by the Ministry of Equality to involve the whole of society in the fight against male violence. The entities or establishments that are part of this network offer information and accompaniment to victims of gender violence. On the 28th, training will be offered to public employees and employees of the General Administration of the State to know how to act in cases where they detect a case of gender violence or when a victim comes asking for help.
