Performances from November to April
Winter road operations include preventive work in low temperature situations to avoid, mainly, the formation of ice sheets on the road, as well as the establishment of restrictions on the circulation of heavy vehicles before they can get stuck on the tracks.
Within this plan, Users are advised to comply at all times with the recommendations made by the responsible bodies in case of adverse weather conditions and to be kept informed about the condition of the tracks through the official channels.
In this regard, it is important to remember that among the amendments to the General Traffic Regulations that came into force on 1 October there is one relating to snowy situations: «On motorways and motorways, it will be forbidden to overtake when the circulation is hindered by the circulation and the left lane will have to be left free for emergency vehicles and snowploughs».
The means available in these situations for the 2026-2027 campaign are:
148 snow-removing machines: 70 in the province of Zaragoza, 39 in the province of Huesca and 39 in the province of Teruel.
