Madrid.- The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility opens today the expansion of the Teruel Road Museum. This performance allows to complete the content of the museum, inaugurated in 2006, and to consolidate itself as a thematic museum of the road and an important part in the cultural offer of the city of Teruel.
With the new works, three new sections are added to the museum, the first dedicated to the firm, essential for the safety and comfort of vehicles. The second, to the tunnels, infrastructures that allow safeguarding areas of difficult orography, highlighting the references to the Somport tunnel. Finally, a section dedicated to mountain ports and winter viality, where, for example, you can see a recreation of a pylon of the pylon road between Allepuz and Villarroya de los Pinares.
Taking advantage of this action, the existing space has been reconfigured allowing to expand the section of quality control of the works and the didactic classroom, which allows to know the entire life cycle of the roads, from their approach to their construction and maintenance.
Given the relevance of the Road Museum and in order to promote its image, its institutional image has also been renewed and signage has been improved to facilitate access to visitors.
Museum of Roads
The Museum of Roads provides information on the evolution of this infrastructure from the first tracks to the motorways, including, among others, sections dedicated to the layout of the roads, the Roman roads, the dangers of the road, bridges and engineering.
It is the main element of the patrimonial offer offered by the General Directorate of Roads in the province of Teruel, along with visits to the viaducts of Teruel, the rehabilitation of the Luco de Jiloca treadmill and the itinerant exhibition of the museum itself.
The museum is located in the city of Teruel, specifically in the conservation center of the Te-01 sector in the Poligono la Paz of the town. The opening hours to the public are on Saturdays from 10:30 to 13:30 hours. The request for visits another day of the week must be made to the email uc.teruel@transportes.gob.es.
