Andorra (Teruel).- Judit Carreras, director of the Institute for the Just Transition (ITJ), announced today in Andorra (Teruel) that the Government will give priority to the next projects awarded by the Fair Transition Contest of the Nudo Mudéjar 400 kV: “The Council of Ministers, at one of its upcoming meetings, will grant consideration of preferential projects to the renewable generation and storage facilities awarded by the tender; this will make it possible to significantly shorten the deadlines so that the generation of employment and the other associated socio-economic benefits reach the municipalities of Aragón as soon as possible.”
The director of the ITJ, an agency attached to the Ministry for the Just Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), has made these statements in Andorra (Teruel) during a working day with the municipalities of the Just Transition Zone of Aragón and with social agents signatories of the Agreement for a Just Energy Transition for the thermal power plants in closing. Carreras’ visit comes after MITECO awarded Enel
Green Power the Prior Administrative Authorization (AAP) to install about 400 MW of renewable generation and storage facilities linked to the Contest. This award involves the creation of about 80 direct jobs and 1,300 indirect jobs, including those associated with socio-economic actions, until August 2029 (annualized full-time jobs), among other commitments.
MORE THAN 900 MW OF CAPACITY RELEASED
With this AAP, more than 900 MW of access capacity of the Node is released, which the ITJ will offer to the rest of the participants, included in the order TED/1146/2022. To this end, the amendment of Order TED/1182/2021 is already being processed through the urgent procedure. These projects will also be linked to the creation of a certain level of employment, among other commitments. In addition, the Government will agree in one of the next Councils of Ministers to declare these new projects as strategic energy facilities, so that they are considered preferential energy projects, in accordance with the provisions of the recent Royal Decree-Law 7/2026.
PROCESSING BY MEANS OF EMERGENCY
Preferred projects are processed more quickly. The procedures of authorization, environmental impact statement, administrative resolutions and resolution of administrative resources will be considered urgent. In addition, priority will be given to the issuance of the reports that must be issued during the consultation procedures established in the regulations, always safeguarding environmental, energy or territorial planning guarantees.
The ITJ has already granted 520 million euros for 180 business, municipal and environmental restoration projects in the fair transition area of Teruel, linked to the commitment to create more than 500 jobs with the current aid.
