Zaragoza.- The government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, held a working meeting this week with representatives of the Residents’ Association Parque Bruil-San Agustín and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Zaragoza (FABZ) to analyze the housing situation in the Aragonese capital, listen to the main concerns of the neighbors and transfer the measures and investments that the Government of Spain is promoting to facilitate access to decent and affordable housing.

During the meeting, held in the Government Delegation, Beltrán thanked the involvement of the neighborhood entities and stressed the importance of maintaining a permanent dialogue with those who know first-hand the reality of the neighborhoods. "Housing is one of the main social challenges of our time and requires the collaboration of all administrations, but also the active listening of neighbors and neighbors," he said.

The representatives of the Residents’ Association Parque Bruil-San Agustín have moved the situation that crosses the environment of Aloy Sala, where many of the homes are still awaiting rehabilitation. They have also expressed concern about the increase in the purchase of rental housing by investment funds. In this regard, the representative of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Zaragoza (FABZ), Arturo Sancho, has exposed the situation of dotational soils in different neighborhoods of the city, especially in the southern areas and in consolidated neighborhoods. From the Government of Spain it has been transferred that the rehabilitation and construction of a thousand homes in Zaragoza is being promoted, much of them promoted by the municipal society Zaragoza Vivienda.

For his part, the Chef de Cabinet of the Government Delegation, Daniel Sarasa, has explained the main actions developed by the Government of Spain in the field of housing in Aragon. Among them, it has highlighted the more than 110 million euros from the Next Generation funds intended for the construction of housing for social rent, the rehabilitation of buildings and homes to improve their energy efficiency and the actions in residential environments of programmed rehabilitation, including about 5.5 million euros for the rehabilitation of the Aloy Sala area. In addition, it has reported that the new State Housing Plan 2026-2030 will mobilize 7 billion euros throughout Spain, of which 266 million will correspond to Aragón.

During the meeting, the actions planned by the new State Housing Entity CASA47, created to increase the public affordable rental park, have also been announced. These include the construction of 64 affordable rental housing units on the grounds of the former Torrero prison.

The government delegate reiterated the commitment of the Government of Spain to access to affordable housing and stressed that these investments are making it possible to increase the public park, promote the rehabilitation of homes and improve the quality of life of thousands of Aragonese families.
