Zaragoza.- The delegate of the Government of Spain in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán, today claimed the "historic" support of the Government of Pedro Sánchez to Aragón, with unprecedented investments, record of employment and a deep industrial transformation, and defended that "the Aragonese are doing well with Pedro Sánchez and would do better with a Government of Aragón that collaborated". Beltrán regretted that the Autonomous Executive maintains a strategy based on the "no to everything", which, in his opinion, causes opportunities and resources to be lost to the Community.
During a press conference to take stock of the action of the Government of Spain in Aragón, the delegate has assured that, in the face of “the noise and the interested polarization”, “reality does not change because some decide to ignore it” and has insisted that Spain leads the economic growth of the great European economies while Aragón consolidates itself as one of the main industrial engines of the country thanks to the impulse of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
In this regard, he has stressed that never before has a Spanish Government allocated so many resources to Aragon. As an example, This year Aragón will receive 55.8% more resources to finance public services than those it received with the Government of Mariano Rajoy in 2018: 1,969 million more. In addition, Aragón has received 1,524 million in the various sectoral conferences since 2019, which is 188.5% more than in the PP stage. “The figures show that the policies of the Spanish Government improve the lives of Aragonese people,” he said.
The Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan has allocated 3,918 million euros to the Communityof which 2,297 million come directly from the General Administration of the State, with 53,178 beneficiaries. To this is added a historical investment of the ministries, among which stand out the 2,548 million euros destined by the Ministry of Transport since 2019 - 75.6% more than during the stage of the PP Government. In particular, Investment in roads has grown by 36.3% and railway funds by 459%. “More has been invested in the railways of Aragon in six months of 2026 (111 million) than in seven years of the Government of Rajoy,” said the delegate.
In this line, Aragon has received €870 million from the Ministry of Industry, which represents an increase of 312% compared to the period 2012-2018.
Beltrán recalled that these investments are making possible some of the main strategic projects of Aragón, such as the Stellantis battery gigantic in Figueruelas, which received 365 million euros from the PERTE of the Electric Vehicle; the Catalina project of green hydrogen in Andorra, with 245 million euros; the actions of the PERTE Agro, with 156.5 million, or the future State Agency of Public Health based in Zaragoza.
The delegate argued that this bet is not limited to large industrial projects, but translates into Concrete improvements to the lives of citizens. "The support of the Government of Spain is evident in the daily life of the Aragonese, in the most everyday things," he said. As an example, he has cited the air-conditioned pavilion of Albalate de Cinca, converted into a climate refuge thanks to the aid for energy efficiency; the improvements made in residences of majors of municipalities such as Alfambra, Andorra, Valderrobres, Albalate del Arzobispo or Calanda through the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE); and the boost to Aragonese agri-food exports, which allows companies from Calatayud, La Almunia, Ricla or Mequinenza to export their cherries to China thanks to the agreement reached by the Spanish authorities.
In terms of housing, The Government of Spain has allocated 294 million euros between 2018 and 2025, promoting the construction of 1,240 homes and the rehabilitation of another 4,504, while the new State Housing Plan will mobilize 266 million euros until 2030. The delegate regretted that the Aragonese Executive did not apply the housing law and protect neighbors living in stressed areas.
On the other hand, he has stressed that Aragon will receive in 2026 a total of 5,318 million euros in account deliveries, the largest figure in its history, which is 1,969 million more to finance public services than in 2018, an increase of 55.8%. In addition, the new financing model proposed by the Government would mean an additional 630 million euros each year for the Autonomous Community and debt cancellation would reduce Aragon’s indebtedness by 2,124 million euros.
Beltran has argued, however, that Aragon could go even further if the Autonomous Government collaborated with the Central Executive. In this regard, he criticized the rejection by the Government of Aragon of measures such as debt cancellation, the new model of regional financing, the State Housing Plan or various agreements reached at sectoral conferences that, he said, would have meant the arrival of more resources for the Community. “Just yesterday we had two examples where they did not attend meetings where money was going to be allocated for education and for hiring university professors. A few days ago we learned that the Government of Azcón did not support the aid of the Government of Spain to air conditioning public centers. It is a constant trickle of partisan decisions that harm the Aragonese,” said the delegate.
He also regretted that Zaragoza has lost opportunities for urban transformation by giving up projects that could have been financed with European funds, as the second tram line, and recalled that many of the main projects that today transform the Aragonese capital have a decisive financing from the Government of Spain. Among them he mentioned the zero-emission buses, financed mostly by subsidies from the Ministry of Transport; the new tram units; the works of Avenida de Cataluña and Avenida de Navarra; the renaturalization of the Huerva River or the recovery of heritage spaces such as Giesa, the Cell del Prior or the Harinera de Casetas.
The economy sets the sixth march without neglecting the social umbrella
The delegate recalled that Spain has been the largest economy in Europe for three years: it will close 2026 growing 5 times more than Italy, 4 times more than Germany and 3 times more than France. And this economic boom has been achieved without neglecting the social umbrella. “We are the government of the people and we have shown that it is possible to be competitive and protect the social majority. We have achieved that there are people who live a little better, with more jobs, better contracts and more future, families are more protected, we think about young people and older people have more resources. We’re talking about changes that come to people. This is the reality, that of a government that works and that advances Spain to a much better place than we found eight years ago,” said Beltrán.
In this regard, the delegate recalled that, since the labor reform, indefinite contracts have increased by 203%, to reach 175,365. It has also highlighted that 58,400 Aragonese workers benefit from the increase in the Interprofessional Minimum Wage.
In addition, he pointed out that one in five applicants for the process of extraordinary regularization of foreigners is already registered in social security (6,412 people out of the 33,865 applicants in Aragon).
In the social sphere, the delegate pointed out that the average retirement pension has increased by 45% since 2018, with an additional 510 euros per month, to 1,644 euros. In addition, 19,685 students receive scholarships from the Ministry of Education; 62,182 people receive the Minimum Vital Income; 45,827 households have the electricity social bond and the Government will double the state funding for the unit, reaching 145 million euros in 2026 and 193.6 million in 2027. It has also highlighted the investment of 621.8 million euros in education since 2019, 921.7 million in science and innovation and 465 million in digital transformation.
Finally, the delegate has assured that the Government of Spain faces the last year of legislature with the objective of completing the reforms initiated, especially in the field of housing and climate change, and has concluded that “never before has a Government of Spain put so much faith in Aragon nor mobilized so many resources to transform this land.” “When the Government of Spain bets on Aragon, Aragon advances. And I am convinced that our Community could go even further if the Government of Aragon abandoned the 'no to everything' policy and worked with institutional loyalty for the benefit of the Aragonese," he concluded.
