Huesca.- An unprecedented deployment of 334 agents of the National Police and two agents of the French police will ensure the security of the city of Huesca during the festivities of San Lorenzo. The police device will begin, by coincidence with the weekend, on Friday, August 7, two days before the official beginning of the festivities, and will end on the morning of Sunday, August 16, after the official closing of the celebrations.
This is the main novelty that has emerged from the meeting of the Security Board of Huesca, co-chaired this morning by the subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, José Carlos Campo, and the mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna. The Board has established coordination measures between the various administrations and security forces and bodies responsible for ensuring the civic development of the festivities. The territorial delegate of the Government of Aragon in Huesca, José Luis Moret, as well as representatives of the Local Police, the Seconded Police and the Civil Guard were also present at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the deputy delegate of the Government highlighted the collaboration between the institutions to ensure that the festivities of Huesca are “an example for the whole of Spain”. José Carlos Campo has called for “collective and individual responsibility to guarantee the enjoyment of the holidays”.
The 334 officers deployed for 10 days by the National Police (the entire staff of the Huesca Police Station plus reinforcement agents from Zaragoza and the Jaca Police Station and the Police and Customs Cooperation Center of Canfranc) will be coordinated with the agents of the Local Police (which also mobilizes the entire staff during the days of celebration), Seconded Police and Civil Guard.
The deployment of the National Police includes the reinforcement of different units, especially its air unit (including an anti-drone device for the most multitudinous events and two additional air surveillance drones). The National Police will also deploy mobile surveillance cameras that, together with the fixed surveillance cameras that the City Council has deployed, will allow, as explained by the Chief Commissioner of the National Police in Huesca, Luis Fernando Ascaso, “both prevention and rapid reaction to any criminal event that occurs in the city.”
The National Police device will pay special attention to the most multitudinous acts such as the blowjob, the concerts and the activities programmed around the eclipse of August 12. In all of them, emphasis will be placed on the prevention of theft - mainly from mobiles -, fights and male aggressions.
For its part, the Civil Guard will carry out the control of the accesses to the city, while the Seconded Police will ensure compliance with the regulations of public shows and entertainment venues.
