Huesca.- The subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, José Carlos Campo, has convened on Thursday a meeting with the lieutenant colonel chief of the Civil Guard Command, José Enrique Cordobés, and with the provincial chief commissioner of the National Police, Luis Fernando Ascaso, to assess the data of last year’s crime balance, published this Thursday by the Ministry of the Interior. In this statistic, it is noted that Huesca remains one of the safest provinces.
The crime balance shows positive data in several of the crimes that cause the greatest social alarm among citizens. Thus, robberies with violence or intimidation (-33.6%) and robberies with force in homes, establishments and other facilities (-6.2%) decreased. Especially significant is the decrease, for the fourth consecutive year, of the subtractions in agricultural and livestock farms, which fell by 10% compared to 2024, and 29% compared to 2021, when the action of the Roca Teams of the Civil Guard was reinforced and a prevention campaign was carried out together with the agricultural organizations. There has also been a reduction in drug trafficking, with 17% fewer crimes than in 2024.
Crimes related to computer scams and other variants of cybercrime are growing and already account for 26% of the total crime in the province. In this sense, the subdelegate recalled that “on the Internet and social networks, in the doubt of whether we are facing a fraudulent offer, the Government of Spain makes available the toll-free telephone 017, managed by INCIBE (National Cybersecurity Institute), which anyone can call to consult about the reliability of a payment platform, a supposed message from the bank, etc.”
José Carlos Campo thanked the constant work of the National Police and the Civil Guard “to keep Huesca, in line with Aragón, as one of the safest provinces in Spain”. He also stressed that the State Security Forces and Corps in Huesca “increase year by year their effectiveness in solving crimes, with the best clarification rate of the entire decade”.
Prevention against sexual assaults
During 2025, 94 crimes against sexual freedom were recorded in the province, a figure that is above the average of the last five years (79). The denunciations of this type of crime involve activating protocols that protect the victims and guarantee them adequate attention, so, for the subdelegate, “it is essential to send a message of zero tolerance, total accompaniment to the victims and that none of these aggressions remain unreported”.
With regard to serious sexual assaults, all cases have resulted in the alleged aggressors being brought before the courts. It should be noted that, in the vast majority of cases, these crimes have been committed by people known to the victims, the most common context being the area of family coexistence or the work environment.
In order to increase awareness of sexual assaults, the Subdelegation has agreed with the Civil Guard and the National Police, in coordination with the Unit on Violence against Women, to strengthen prevention among the youngest children through the Master Plan for Coexistence and School Safety, with an extension of the offer of talks on this subject offered by the agents of both bodies in institutes. Similarly, in the specific area of the fight against male violence, new campaigns are planned in the province.
