Zaragoza.- Aragón remains as the sixth Autonomous community with the lowest crime rate in Spain, nine points below the national average. This is reflected in the crime balance of 2025 of the Ministry of the Interior, which also places the Community as one of the referents in the rate of clarification of crimes, reflecting the high level of professionalism and effectiveness of the National Police and the Civil Guard in the territory. The Government Delegation in Aragon has held meetings today in the subdelegations of Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel with the heads of the Civil Guard and the National Police to analyze in detail the data and strengthen operational coordination where necessary. “Aragón is today a secure community, with committed institutions, reinforced staffing and a clear strategy in the face of new challenges, especially in the digital field,” explained the government delegate in Spain, Fernando Beltrán.
The report notes an increase in cybercrime of 12.9% compared to 2024, driven mainly by the increase in computer scams. Currently, one in four crimes is committed in the digital sphere, a trend that has been sustained in recent years that has an impact on the global evolution of crime. Faced with this scenario, the Government of Spain works to improve prevention, citizen collaboration and specialized units in the fight against cybercrime.
In contrast, the most serious crimes are significantly reduced. Wilful homicides and consummate murders decreased by 37.5%, while burglaries in homes fell by 19% and in establishments by 13%. Likewise, robberies with violence or intimidation are reduced by about 5%. The balance sheet of 2025 also reflects a further decline in farm and livestock subtractions, which fell by 8.3% and linked four consecutive years of reduction.
On the other hand, crimes against sexual freedom have increased by 9% in the last year. This category includes, among others, sexual assaults with penetration, corruption of minors and crimes related to child pornography. “It is a fact that requires maximum institutional involvement. The protection of victims and coordination between administrations remain an absolute priority of the Government of Spain. The accession and development of cooperation instruments on gender violence and comprehensive protection will continue to be strengthened throughout the territory,” explained Beltrán. This has recalled that there are already 22 localities adhered to the VIOGÉN system and that work is being done to extend this network to all Aragonese municipalities that meet the requirements.
According to the Interior report, Aragon has 5.2% more National Police and Civil Guard agents than in 2018. Despite population growth, the ratio remains at 3.8 agents per 1,000 inhabitants, in line with the national average. In the province of Teruel, this figure amounts to 5.9 agents per 1,000 inhabitants, which demonstrates the commitment of the Government of Spain to security in the rural environment and to the fight against depopulation.
