Zaragoza.- The government delegate in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán, has visited the company Saint-Gobain Placo located in the Zaragoza municipality of Quinto, accompanied by its mayor, Jesús Morales; Joaquín Caso, director of operations of SG Placo; and the director of the plant, Antonio Luna. The visit is due to the recognition that the company has received from the Ministry of Ecological Transition (MITECO) for its exemplary execution of European funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. In total, the good practices of 39 companies have been recognized, in the case of Saint-Gobain Placo, in the category of innovation for the development of pioneering projects in its field of activity.
Placo es la principal productora de placas de yeso laminado en España. The Quinto plant has been the economic and labor engine of the area for four decades. Currently, it employs more than 200 people and in the last 5 years it has invested 75 million euros to, among other objectives, put into operation a second production line. In addition, a future investment of 45 million euros is planned.
What the Ministry has recognized is its commitment to the circular economy: In its facilities, Placo has a recycling plant for laminated gypsum boards in which it has invested 6 million euros to reuse both the internal rejection and the one coming from the construction works. In this way, they prevent them from ending up in the landfill and improve the use of resources by replacing virgin materials with recycled ones, reducing the use of non-renewables.
