Jaca.- The square of the Cathedral of Jaca has been the stage of the presentation of the new season of the campaign ‘No caminas sola’ to reinforce the security of women who undertake the Camino de Santiago Frances alone. It is a joint initiative of the Units against Gender Violence of the delegations of the Government of Spain in Aragón, La Rioja, Navarra, Castilla y León and Galicia, autonomous communities through which this Jacobean route runs, in addition to that of Extremadura, through which the Via de la Plata runs.

The Government delegate in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán, together with the Superior Chief of the National Police in Aragón, José Ángel Sanz, and the Chief of the Civil Guard Area in Aragón, Brigadier General Antonio Orantos, highlighted “the work that the Security Forces and Corps carry out year by year so that one of the main tourist and cultural assets of the province of Huesca offers all the resources and guarantees so that the pilgrims can carry out a route free of machista violence.”

Beltrán also wanted to thank the municipalities, pharmacies, hostels and hotels of the municipalities along the Camino for their collaboration in disseminating the informative material of the campaign. ‘No caminas sola’ materializes in the dissemination in different locations of the Camino de Santiago of diptychs and bilingual informative posters that include a QR that links to the phones of attention (the specific one for male violence, 016, and generals 062 and 091) and to the closest resources where attention is given.

Alertcops, “Guardian of the Camino de Santiago”

The pilgrims also have the mobile application AlertCops, joint for Civil Guard and National Police. Among the functions of this tool is “Guardian of the Camino de Santiago”, which allows to share the position with the State Security Forces and Bodies so that in case of emergency or risk the police posts can attend to the user more effectively.
