Huesca.- On October 31, the deadline for people born in 2007 to apply for the Young Cultural Voucher, a program promoted by the Ministry of Culture, ends. The subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, has visited the Castillón and Ibor de Barbastro bookstores, participants in this program, to encourage the participation of people who have reached the age of 18 this year.
In this fourth edition, 317,889 applications have already been received, 8,546 from Aragon. Of the three Aragonese provinces, Zaragoza has registered the most applications with 6,623, followed by Huesca (1,205) and Teruel (718).
The program allows people who have reached or will reach the age of 18 in 2025 to have this assistance of 400 euros for the acquisition and enjoyment of products, services and cultural activities. To do this, they will have to register and perform the application procedure on the web https://bonoculturajoven.gob.es/.
From the granting of the aid, young people have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments, 3,700 throughout Spain, 90 of them in Aragon.
Aid to the cultural fabric
The deputy delegate pointed out in Barbastro that “this program of the Government of Spain not only allows young people to access the culture, but also helps the cultural fabric of the entire territory”. In the province, there are 37 establishments attached to the Young Cultural Voucher, among which are mainly bookshops, cinemas and musical and scenic spaces, distributed in Huesca (15), Monzón (8), Barbastro (5), Sabiñánigo and Jaca (2 each), and Aínsa, Boltaña, Fraga, Sariñena and Tardienta (1 each).
Campo has highlighted “the indispensable role as cultural dynamizers that libraries play in our towns and regions”. That is why she wanted to thank the Castillón and Ibor bookstores in Barbastro, which she has also congratulated as candidates for the 2025 Cultural Bookstore Award, which they choose as the only representatives of the Autonomous Community.
How to apply for the Cultural Voucher
To apply for the Cultural Voucher it is essential that the interested parties obtain, previously, one of these three forms of digital identification: Cl@ve with basic registration (which can be requested and obtained by video call), Cl@ve with advanced registration (in person and for those who have not yet reached the age of 18) or Digital certificate. Young people interested in applying for the Young Cultural Voucher can carry out the procedure on their own behalf or through the representation of an adult, for which it is necessary to attach the downloadable representation form on the website, correctly signed by the beneficiary. In these cases, the family book is not a document accrediting the representation.
Young people who reach the age of 18 in 2025 who are of Spanish nationality, have legal residence in Spain, whether they are asylum seekers, temporary displaced persons or ex-guardianship foreigners are entitled to this assistance. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, it is about 14,282 potential beneficiaries in Aragon, out of 534,526 Potential beneficiaries across the country.
About the Young Cultural Bonus
The Young Cultural Bonus works with a prepaid card that the beneficiary can have virtually on his mobile or receive physically at home. With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three categories to favor the diversification of spending, with the following distribution:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, press or discs.
- 100 euros for digital products, such as subscriptions to platforms, digital press, podcast or online video games.
- 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums...
The objective of the Ministry of Culture with this initiative has a double meaning: on the one hand, it shows the interest of a wide spectrum of the young Spanish population for culture, which this initiative helps to build loyalty as a public and cultural consumer for the future; and, on the other hand, it offers additional support to the cultural sector.
The Young Cultural Bonus is regulated by the Royal Decree, with indefinite validity, which the Council of Ministers approved on March 21, 2023, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture. It has an endowment of 170 million euros in the General State Budgets extended. In 2022, the first year of validity of this initiative, a total of 277,607 people obtained the Young Cultural Bonus throughout Spain; in 2023, the figure amounted to 319,237 and in 2024 there were 334,435 beneficiaries.
