Alcampell.- The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through the DUS 5000 Program, has allocated 15.6 million euros for projects that will allow the energy sustainability of 43 villages in the province of Huesca. Among these projects is the one presented by Alcampell, a locality that the Subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, visited this Wednesday to learn from his mayor, Juan Aurín, the impact that the installation will entail thanks to this subsidy of photovoltaic plates to power public lighting and municipal buildings.
Through the DUS 5000 Program of the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDEA), dependent on MITECO and financed with European funds from the Recovery Plan, Alcampell has received an aid of 1,254,000 euros, which covers 100% the implementation of the project that will provide the municipality with a saving of about 60% in energy.
The action in Alcampell includes the total insulation of the Casa de la Cultura; the change of the heating and air conditioning systems of the Casa de la Cultura, schools, City Hall building and doctor’s house; installation of photovoltaic cells in the municipal pavilion to supply public lighting and municipal buildings; and change of luminaires from public lighting to LED.
For Carlos Campo, “this aid will allow Alcampell and 42 other high-Aragonese towns to save significant amounts of energy that can be used to improve the quality of life of their neighbors.” The subdelegate recalled that “the DUS 5000 combines environmental sustainability, with projects based on clean energy, and the fight against depopulation, since this program is aimed exclusively at populations of less than 5,000 inhabitants.”
