The deputy delegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, visited Fonz to learn from his mayor, María Clusa, the impact that the town expects thanks to the approximately 2 million euros of European funds that the Ministry of Industry and Tourism has assigned to the project of restoration and enhancement of the palace of the Barones de Valdeolivos.
Specifically, the Government of Spain, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, allocates to the project of the Barones de Valdeolivos Palace, presented by the Government of Aragon, 1,985,096 euros. In this same line of aid of the Program to Improve Competitiveness and Revitalize the Historical Heritage with tourist use, the other project benefited in the province was the Casino de Huesca, of the City of Huesca, with 2,634,113 euros.
For the subdelegate of the Government in Huesca, “this aid, which carries a significant management effort on the part of the Ministry, will allow to boost cultural tourism in our province, improving the diversification and seasonalization of the sector, while recovering important assets of cultural interest.” In the case of Fonz, he said, “it also means strengthening the strategy that this town has developed in recent years to make itself known as a monumental villa of the Renaissance”.
Campo has stressed that, with this and other aid within the framework of the Recovery Plan, “the Government of Spain is cementing the future of our province.” Thus, he recalled that, in addition to the examples cited, and within the framework of the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP) of the Ministry of Housing, there are ongoing actions to recover other emblematic buildings of the province, such as the Monzón Sugar Factory, with a help of 2,356,999 euros; the Florida Cinema of Fraga, with 724,217 euros; the San Ramón de Barbastro Warehouses, with 1,361,880 euros, or the former prison of Benabarre, with 637,821 euros.
Fonz Municipal Library
During his visit to Fonz, the subdelegate was able to learn about the work carried out by the Municipal Library, which was recently awarded one of the María Moliner Awards granted by the Ministry of Culture. Campo has congratulated the library team for a recognition, with 2,777 euros for the purchase of material, which “encourages us to continue with the line of promotion of reading in our villages, and which in this case is especially valuable for its work not only of preserving local Aragonese speech, but of promoting its daily use through a multitude of activities.”
