Aragonese exports represent, according to data for the month of January, 1,412.8 million euros, which implies a growth of 6.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, and an increase of 11.8% compared to the month of December. The report, prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Trade-ICEX in Aragon of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, with data provided by the Customs Department of the AEAT, also shows that total imports amount to 1,442.9 million euros increasing by 26.1% compared to the previous year and amounted to 15% intermonthly.
In this way, the commercial balance in this period has a surplus of 30.1 million euros. The coverage rate stands at 97.9%. Aragonese exports accounted for 4.7% of total Spanish exports in the month of January 2024.
The main sectors that contributed to the growth of exports in Aragon were the automotive, food, beverage and tobacco sector, non-chemical semi-manufactures and chemical products. The sectors that contributed negatively were consumer manufacturing, capital goods, durable consumer goods and other goods. In terms of imports, the sectors that contributed positively were mainly the automobile sector, capital goods, non-chemical semi-manufactures and durable consumer goods. The largest negative contributions were from the consumer manufacturing and chemical sectors.
The European Union remains the main destination for Aragonese exports, representing 73.8% of the total, increasing by 10.3% compared to the previous year. Of the main partners, the increases in sales to Germany (32.9%), France (21.3%) and Portugal (7.9%) stand out. Exports to third countries account for 26.2% of the total, decreasing to all regions except those directed to Asia excluding the Middle East, which increased by 16.5%. The increases, among other countries, to Hong Kong (66%), South Africa (46.4%) or Taiwan (44.6%) can be highlighted positively.
