The government delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, held a meeting on Tuesday with the solidarity entities that collaborate in the reception of vulnerable migrants in the community. The meeting was attended by representatives of ACCEM Aragón, Red Cross Aragón, Daughters of Charity San Vicente de Paúl, Apip Acam Foundation, CEPAIM Foundation, YMCA, FISAT and Brothers of the White Cross, as well as the subdelegate in the province of Zaragoza, Jorge Pastor.
Beltrán has specified that this meeting “is a coordination meeting, identical to those we have had in this Government Delegation with the crises of the Afghans or the Ukrainians, to offer the resources of the Ministry, know the situation and see the itineraries available to the people who have come to the province of Huesca.”
In this phase of the reception, young men arrived in two municipalities in the province of Huesca, mostly from the Sahel. Specifically, it has served 50 people in Quicena and 150 in Sabiñánigo. The government delegate added that the entity that is managing this arrival, Apip Acam, is studying “on a case-by-case basis to know its immediate needs and also to know what will happen in the future.”
Some of these people will request asylum or refuge, at the mercy of international protection treaties, others will want to have a reunion with their families who may be in other places in Spain or Europe, others will want to start a process of training or accreditation of roots in order to have a working life “and it is necessary to assess the needs on a case-by-case basis”. The entities help them establish contact with their families and with people close to them.
Since the beginning of this process of humanitarian attention, which has been supervised and coordinated by the Ministry of Inclusion with the entities and municipalities from the first moment, the work of the associations is fundamental, with which the Government Delegation maintains continuous contact. Today, in addition, a face-to-face meeting has been held to assess in depth the first days of the process.
