The subdelegation of the Government in Zaragoza has hosted a new meeting of the working group of the Vehicle Repair Workshops Commission this week. Representatives of the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Local Police of Zaragoza, the Government of Aragón, the Provincial Labour Inspectorate and the Association of Vehicle Repair Workshops of Zaragoza (Atarvez), among others, have participated.
The subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza, Fernando Beltrán, has thanked all those present for the willingness to go to the working table against illegal repair workshops, which originated in 2016 due to the large number of complaints that the association had presented, being the last meeting of the same in February 2019 and since then had not been reconvened.
The president of Atarvez, José Antonio Mora, has also highlighted the work done by all the security forces and departments present at the table, because the denunciations have fallen drastically in recent years, although they continue to occur. “Without everyone’s collaboration, it would not have been possible to reduce them,” he said.
As indicated by the representatives of the security forces and bodies, it has now been detected that the illegal businesses that still operate in the province of Zaragoza have moved away from the capital to small polygons and localities of the province. In order to maintain vigilance, it has been agreed to strengthen the collaboration between the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
The Atarvez association has presented to the table 36 complaints, collected from March 2019 to December 2022, indicating that in two of them the legalization of businesses as repair shops already exists. The cumulative total of complaints filed since 2016 amounts to 190.
The attendees highlighted the numerous inspections and ex officio actions that are carried out year after year, linked both to the presence of illegal workshops and to the working conditions of different businesses, with special emphasis on the prevention of occupational risks.
