The head of the Executive, accompanied in his visit by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and by the delegate of the Government in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has recognized the tasks of the center, fundamental to guarantee the immigration policy of the Government, which has allowed to reduce the arrival of irregular immigrants to our country, closing 2022 with a decrease in irregular immigration of 25%, and 44% today, compared to the same months of last year.
Likewise, the President of the Government has highlighted the strategic role of this center, which is attached to the Secretary of State for Security, which coordinates and supervises the operational actions related to irregular immigration in the Strait, Alboran Sea and adjacent waters.
The CCOE, inaugurated in 2019, carries out a transversal coordination activity between the actors responsible for controlling irregular migratory flows and contributes with its action to reduce the number of lives that are put at risk to reach Spain from other countries.
