The delegate of the Government of Spain in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, activated the security device of the Jerez 2023 Motorcycling Grand Prix that this year is composed of about 3,000 members of the Security Forces and the DGT, which will provide coverage to the more than 347,000 visitors who expect to receive the city of Cadiz and the surrounding municipalities until next Sunday, April 30.
It will be the first edition of the Grand Prix that will have the system of immediate warnings to the population before emergencies Es-Alert, implemented by the Government of Spain and integrated into the National Alert Network.
Fernández, who has been accompanied by the deputy delegate in Cadiz, José Antonio Pacheco, and the mayor of Jerez de la Frontera, Mamen Sánchez, on his visit to the Operational Coordination Center (CECOR) has assured that “everything is prepared to guarantee the good development of an event that exceeds the Andalusian territory thanks to the joint work of the different security, prevention and emergencies bodies dependent on the State, regional and local administrations, which will be in coordination 24 hours to make this meeting a reason to enjoy with the maximum guarantees, both on the roads and in the leisure areas of the surrounding municipalities”.
To this end, Pedro Fernández explained that the CECOR will coordinate the close to 2,000 agents of all specialties participating in the device, the 50 DGT officials located in the control centers, air assets, maintenance and auxiliary equipment, as well as the 1,050 National Police personnel specifically destined “to ensure security and public order in the points of greatest influx both of Jerez and of the municipalities of El Puerto de Santa María, Puerto Real, San Fernando, Rota, Sanlúcar de Barrameda or the city of Cádiz.”
To increase control over the area, the Civil Guard will have a TRA (airspace restriction) authorized by the Government Delegation in Andalusia that will facilitate the service of the helicopters that will operate in terms of security, “and thus avoid any possibility of conflict with recreational and professional flights for the recording of images of the event,” Fernández has detailed. This zoning will also allow you to have geolocated security warnings about traffic jams, alternative routes, incidents, emergencies, parking occupancy…
Security Alerts
Added to this is the new ES-Alert technology, which is integrated into the National Alert Network and allows Civil Protection authorities to send generalized and immediate alert messages to mobile phones located in a certain area. “The activation of this procedure will allow a much faster and more effective response to situations of special gravity that may have a direct impact on the visitors there,” said the delegate.
The delegate also recalled that the ALERTCOPS app will adapt to the Grand Prix “to keep users informed, which will allow both to offer information and request attention in case of emergency”.
Pedro Fernández has thanked all the agents and security officials for the work they will carry out these days, “in which we will also have the collaboration of the municipalities of the area and other administrations involved”, and has asked all the drivers who meet in Jerez to “exercise extreme caution on the roads because the influx of traffic in these days will increase considerably as it coincides with the national holiday of May 1st”.
