The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma), Adif, Adif High Speed, the Junta de Andalucía and the City of Almería have agreed to accelerate the processing of the authorization for the signing of the agreement of integration of the railway in the city and to tender the first contracts in the coming weeks. Thus, the text of the agreement already has the consensus and approval of all parties, so it can be signed in the coming dates.
The commitment to process the agreement made today by the three administrations and the railway manager allows Adif Alta Celería to launch the tender for the works of the “project of construction of the railway integration in Almería. Phase 2” in the coming weeks.
The parties reached the agreement during the celebration of the Shareholders’ Meeting of the Almeria High Speed Company, of which Mitma, the Board, the City Council, Adif and Adif AV are part, session in which the appointment of the Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, as Councillor of the Company, has also been approved, and it has been decided to appoint him President of the Board at a forthcoming Board of Directors that will be held, predictably, in writing and without session. In addition, the Board also plans to draw up the company’s accounts for the financial year 2022.
Intervention
The action to be tendered contemplates the grounding of the railway crossing in an approximate length of 1.5 kilometers with a UIC/Mixed dual track platform, in extension of the tunnel built to El Puche, in addition to the remodeling and adaptation of the current station of Almería, which will be maintained on surface, differentiating two buildings: one for the railway operation and another for the bus station. The new beach of tracks and platforms at current level will be adapted for new high-speed traffic. An underground public car park will also be run under the bus station’s docks.
This project will allow the improvement of urban integration in the performance environment, including the construction of a pedestrian walkway on the exit ramp of the basement that will connect the Avda. Sierra de Alhamilla and Calle Elio Antonio de Nebrija, and a new vial of transversal connection between the historic building of travelers and the station of Almería.
All the administrations integrated in the Almeria High Speed Society have reiterated their commitment to Almeria and have highlighted the decisive nature of the second phase of integration, which will allow the transformation of this area of the city, making it more sustainable, permeable and accessible to Almerians, giving it greater mobility and connecting the city of Almeria with the high-speed network.
