The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) will be able to start next Friday, February 24, at 3:00 p.m. the special mechanism of traffic regulation, management and surveillance measures called Special Traffic Operation ‘Day of Andalusia – 2023’, which will remain active until 24 hours on Tuesday, February 28 and in which 1,125,500 displacements are planned.
On the occasion of the festivity in the Andalusian Autonomous Community, next Tuesday, February 28, and on Monday, February 27, the Andalusian roads will register that increase in the number of trips fundamentally towards the areas where winter sports and second homes are practiced.
Given these forecasts, the delegate of the Government of Spain in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has assured that “everything is prepared to guarantee safety on the Andalusian roads during these four days, in which a sharp drop in temperatures is expected that could change the conditions of circulation”. For this reason, he has asked drivers to “inform themselves beforehand of weather warnings and pay full attention to traffic rules to ensure everyone a safe ride and a safe ride.”
For this reason, the more than 60 officials and specialized technical staff who attend the supervision, regulation and information work from the Traffic Management Centers based in Malaga and Seville, in service 24 hours a day, will give special service before, during and after each special operation. In addition, the two headquarters of air media (helicopters and drones) covering the main itineraries used by vehicles throughout Andalusia will remain active, which will focus on those points where incidents can foreseeably occur. In flight, they will inform the Traffic Management Centers and the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard of the state of circulation.
For its part, the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard will carry out the usual services of help, assistance and traffic surveillance throughout the interurban network of roads in the autonomous community, paying special attention to those that predictably support the greatest number of displacements.
The roads of Andalusia that will foreseeably support the greatest number of trips are A-357, A-4, A-44, A-45, A-49, A-66, A-7, A-92, A-92M, AP-4, AP-7, MA-20, N-4 and the secondary network for access to tourist rest areas and those of second residence.
The schedules that will accumulate the most traffic will be on Friday 24 from 15:00h to 23:00h, on Saturday from 9:00h to 15:00h, on Monday from 18:00h to 23:00h and on Sunday, day of return of the festive bridge, from 19:00h to 23:00h.
