The Ministry of Culture and Sport has published on the website of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) the resolution granting direct aid to owners of exhibition halls, amounting to 10,097,695.41 euros, of which 1,916,424 euros have been allocated to 82 halls in Andalusia, which include more than 600 screens.
For this line of aid, the ICAA has allocated a total amount of 10,097,695.41 euros from the Institute’s expenditure budget for 2022. From this budget, 9,927,695.41 euros have been allocated to 215 beneficiary companies and 170,000 euros, to 17 non-profit entities. The 232 applications granted correspond to 476 cinemas or film complexes distributed throughout the territory.
Territorial distribution
By autonomous communities, in addition to the 82 cinemas in Andalusia, the aid is distributed among 29 cinemas in Galicia; 10 in the Principality of Asturias; 4 in Cantabria; 30 in the Basque Country; 10 in the Foral Community of Navarra; 4 in La Rioja; 18 in Aragon; 84 in Catalonia; 56 in the Valencian Community; 15 in the Region of Murcia; 10 in Extremadura; 30 in Castilla y León; 21 in Castilla-La Mancha; 51 in the Community of Madrid; 9 in the Canary Islands; 12 in the Balearic Islands.
The objective of this aid is to guarantee the activity of the exhibition halls as fundamental agents of the dissemination of cultural diversity, especially while the habit of returning to the cinemas is recovering and all the adverse effects of the pandemic in this area are overcome.
