The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) has agreed this Friday, within the framework of the plenary of the General Conference of University Policy (CGPU), to transfer to Castilla-La Mancha 4,229,088 euros to pay the salary of professors and assistant professors doctor in public universities of Castilla-La Mancha within the framework of the María Goyri program.
Toledo.- The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) has agreed this Friday, within the framework of the plenary of the General Conference of University Policy (CGPU), to transfer to Castilla-La Mancha 4,229,088 euros to pay the salary of professors and assistant professors doctor in public universities of Castilla-La Mancha within the framework of the María Goyri program.
This is the first time that a Spanish Government has taken over the salary of university professors, within the framework of a competition that is transferred to the autonomous communities. In total, for this year, the plenary of the CGPU has approved to transfer a total of 149.67 million euros to all the autonomous communities.
At the meeting, which was telematic, and which was chaired by the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Universities, Juan Cruz Cigudosa, together with the Secretary General of Universities, Francisco Garcíaall the autonomous communities have participated. The distribution agreement has been taken with the votes in favor of all the autonomous communities with the exception of Illes Balears, which has voted against.
The Government of Spain, through MICIU, launched the María Goyri Program to incorporate a total of 5,638 professors and assistant professors doctor to the public universities of our country progressively until 2028, 70% more than in the academic year 2023-2024.
The Government's commitment to the 'María Goyri Program' means financing for six years 3,400 teaching assistant doctor positions throughout Spain, which have already been contracted and will involve an overall cost of more than 900 million euros by the Executive. In addition, this program involves the mobilization of another 2,236 places that are funded by the autonomous communities with an additional contribution of 600 million euros.
