Adif allocates new investments to the modernization of the electrification of the Neighbourhoods network of metric width of Cantabria, in particular, to the construction of a new electrical substation in Requejada, at kilometric point 509/200 of the Santander-Cabezón de la Sal line.
The substation will improve the reliability of the power supply of the line, even in case of incidents with voltage drop of neighbouring substations, and will enhance the circulation capacity of the network. The project, included in the Commuter Plan of Cantabria, has just been awarded to the UTE made up of the companies Telephones, Lines and Power and Eiffage Energía, amounting to 3.2 million euros, and an execution period of 12 months.
Modernization of the entire power grid
The action is part of the project to increase and modernise the installations of the electrical substations that supply the Suburbs lines of metric width of Cantabria. Thus, the capacity of the network is also enhanced.
In this context, in November 2022, Adif tendered for 2 million euros the renovation of two other electrical substations: the Puente San Miguel, which is part of the Santander-Cabezón de la Sal line; and the Orejo, in the Santander-Liérganes line.
All these works contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, which has among its goals to develop reliable, sustainable and quality infrastructures.
