- It is an upper pass on the A-6, in Collado Villalba, and the urban conditioning of the crossing of El Molar - Pedrezuela, of 4.6 km in length.
- At the national level, 63 actions will be executed, of which 19 are already completed, including the execution of about 80 kilometers of bike lanes in 30 municipalities.
- These are reforms that seek to decarbonise urban and interurban mobility by promoting walking or cycling to the detriment of the private vehicle.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, through the General Directorate of Roads, has already implemented all the works foreseen in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to adapt sections of state roads to their use by pedestrians and cyclists. Among them, two performances are contemplated in the Community of Madrid.
These are reforms that affect more than 146 kilometers of the State Road Network distributed in 58 municipalities, which aim to make certain sections of urban and interurban roads accessible to the transit of pedestrians and cyclists, promoting more sustainable and active mobility in safety conditions and to the detriment of the private vehicle.
It is an action aligned with the State Strategy for the Bicycle, a plan promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility that aims to promote the use of the bicycle in all its areas, whether as a means of daily transport, as a tourist activity or as a tool for sport and leisure, always with the aim of moving towards sustainable and active mobility. In that sense, one performance has already been completed in Madrid city and another will soon be executed in Pedrezuel-El Molar.
Improvements in urban sections of the State Road Network
These improvements in the State Road Network are framed in different investment lines of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed with the Next Generation funds of the European Union.
On the one hand, Component 1 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan is specifically dedicated to action plans related to mobility in urban environments.
The rest of the works are framed in the so-called Component 6 of the PRTR, an investment line that aims to protect the most vulnerable users (pedestrians and cyclists mainly), the sustainability of the roads and the improvement of air quality, of special importance also in urban environments. In the case of Madrid, the actions on pedestrian crossings in the M-40 (already finished) and in the town of Collado Villalba (in execution) stand out.
