The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has litigated, for a budget of 4.3 million euros (VAT included), the conditioning works of the TO-23 road, in Toledo, to adapt its route to the urban criteria of mobility. The corresponding announcement will soon be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). The action will improve the safety conditions of the most vulnerable users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, thanks to the construction of separate roads and an elevated walkway to avoid existing pedestrian crossings. In this way, the work includes the creation of an 8.8 kilometre-long cycle path that will start from the Santa Bárbara roundabout and cross the polygon of Santa María de Benquerencia, with a width between 2.50 and 4 meters according to the sections and curbs on both sides. The firm will be composed of artificial zahorse reclaimed on surface with silica powder, as requested by the City of Toledo, agency to which the work will be ceded once executed. In addition, a crowded walkway of mixed cyclist and pedestrian use will be raised that will allow you to cross the TO-23 at the link with Valdemolinos Street. Finally, the surface drainage of the track will be carried out with spouts and driveways, the horizontal signage of the road crossings and the vertical of the cyclist track, and the lighting of a section of the TO-23 in which existing luminaires will be replaced by other LED type luminaires. This project is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), which aims to invest up to 659 million euros (without VAT) of the NextGenerationEU funds in the modernization of tunnels, the protection of vulnerable users and fauna, the promotion of sustainability and energy efficiency and the reduction of noise in the State Road Network. Likewise, the action is aligned with the State Strategy for the Bicycle, a plan that aims to promote the use of the bicycle in all its areas: as a means of daily transport, as a tourist activity or as a tool for sport and leisure, always with the aim of moving towards sustainable and active mobility. To achieve this, one of the fundamental aspects is to make cycling safe by building infrastructures such as this one.
