Madrid
This festival is organized by the Art and Memory Association and is sponsored by the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, through the Secretary of State for Democratic Memory.
As a result of the Covid pandemic, this year’s edition will have a mixed format: the Official Short Films Section will be held entirely on-line through http://www.fescimed.com on 12, 13 and 14 December, while the round tables will be held face-to-face, following all the security protocols and capacity allowed, on 15 and 16 December at the Cineteca in Madrid.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain, in Madrid, and will be attended by the Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Fernando Martínez. This year, in addition, the Special Prize Lola González has been awarded to the writer Almudena Grandes.
Despite the pandemic, this fourth edition has had a record of participation. 2,451 short films from 109 countries have been submitted to the selection, of which 18 have been selected to compete in the Official Section. The theme of all the works is developed around the democratic memory and the principles of truth, justice and reparation of the victims, as well as all those aspects that the authors and authors consider appropriate for the theme of this contest.
