A total of 2585 students from 15 secondary education and vocational training institutes in Navarre attended one of the 103 talks and workshops given by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in the Foral Community during the academic year 2024/2025. These are formative actions aimed at preventing gender violence and building healthy and egalitarian affective relationships.
These actions are part of the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments launched by the Ministry of the Interior. The objective is to promote coordination between the educational community and the Security Forces and Corps to provide students with the knowledge centers and the necessary tools to prevent or detect risk situations in issues as diverse as alcohol and drug consumption, bullying, cybercrime or road safety.
In the specific case of the talks given by the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women, the objective is for students to identify attitudes and behaviours that imply aggression or situations that violate women’s rights; as well as problems that occur in relationships that are signs of violence, such as isolation, control of the other person, the destruction of self-esteem, threats and intimidation, or other assaults of various kinds.
Workshops have also been held to learn about the harmful effects of early access to pornography and how it affects the affective sexual relationships of adolescents or to identify both messages and misogynistic influencers that incite violence against women, which are widespread on social networks.
The Government Delegation in Navarre is committed to raising awareness from an early age to prevent violence against women and to teaching how to identify toxic behaviors in affective relationships.
