Melilla has played a leading role in the III PROA+ Conference, held from 28 to 30 October at the Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra – Baluarte in Pamplona, a meeting that has brought together professionals from all over the country to share experiences and strategies for educational improvement.
A large group of teachers, directors, inspectors of Melilla, headed by the Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño, has actively participated in the different activities, presentations and workshops, presenting projects developed in their centers and contributing their experience in educational innovation, sustainability and inclusion.
During the meeting, inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Education, Abelardo de la Rosa Díaz, representatives of Education of Navarre and the General Directorate of Territorial Cooperation, the Melillense professionals had a constant presence at the discussion tables and in the workshops.
The CEIP Juan Caro, with its director Sergio Balbuena and the teacher Manolo Marín, presented its project of sustainability and inclusive education, at a table moderated by Asunción Duarte, coordinator of the living room of the IES Juan Antonio Fernández.
In addition, the Chief Inspector of Education of Melilla, Manuel Blanco Roldán, participated in a round table on the continuous improvement of the educational inspection, a space for sharing and debate on good practices, reflections and needs of the Inspection of Education, focusing his intervention on the involvement of the inspection within the PROA+ program.
On behalf of CEIP Encarna León, Professors Neus Olcina and Mari Carmen Bellido shared their experience with project-based learning (PBL), an innovative methodology that adapts to students with special educational needs and improves their academic performance.
The University of Granada was also present, with the participation of María José Molina, Vice-Dean of Teaching, Quality and Innovation of the Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences, who intervened in the conclusions of the workshop “Actions for the improvement of essential competences”.
The Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño, attended the first two days and highlighted the relevance of the participation from Melilla. “The active presence of Melilla professionals at these conferences underlines the importance of networking and the exchange of good practices.”
In the words of Fernández Treviño, “our city is an example of educational commitment and the application of innovative methodologies that contribute to a more cohesive educational community committed to excellence”.
The Provincial Director also highlighted the transformative role of the PROA+ Program, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, “PROA+ embodies the will of the Government of Spain not to leave any child behind. It allows us to accompany the centers in their improvement processes, strengthening equity, innovation and educational inclusion.”
The III Conference of the PROA+ is consolidated as a reference space for reflection, learning and the promotion of educational strategies aimed at improving the educational system as a whole. In this forum Melilla has once again demonstrated its leadership and commitment to continuous improvement and quality education for all.
