The Provincial Director of Education, Elena Fernández Treviño, has announced that all public and concerted schools in the Autonomous City of Melilla have the interactive reading platform ‘Fiction Express’ in their subjects of Spanish and English. It is a tool that has already been used in previous years and that will be used again next year.
This digital resource is part of the Territorial Cooperation Project of the Ministry of Education on the improvement of reading skills, and focuses on the development of language skills through interactive and creative reading, data and pedagogical evidence.
As explained by the Provincial Director, this tool not only involves students in reading, but also invites them to actively participate in the creation of stories together with the authors themselves. This interaction increases the motivation towards reading and makes it easier for students to assimilate the content effectively. Once the writing process for each book is completed, the complete books are available in the school library. Thus, students can continue to enjoy the stories in their free time.
Fernández Treviño has highlighted that the platform provides immediate feedback on student progress, providing real-time data on progress and the level of competence. This information, collected through the teacher panels, allows teachers to “adapt their pedagogical strategies according to the needs of each student,” he said.
“The aim of ‘Fiction Express’ is to reverse the low levels of reading comprehension in the city of Melilla, integrating this solution only in the Spanish and English language subjects, but also in other non-linguistic areas in the future,” he explained. “The initiative promotes interactive and creative reading, encouraging motivation and
