This November, the measures approved by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to simplify and improve unemployment protection have entered into force, which means, among other things, that the subsidy rises from 480 to 570 euros per month and benefits more groups.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has valued the implementation of all these measures that “improve the Social State and, therefore, the democratic quality of our country, and suppose that the workers of Melilla and all of Spain continue to earn rights”.
Thus, as explained by the head of the Government Delegation, the beneficiaries of the level of assistance of unemployment are increased, in the first 6 months, from 80% to 95% of the Public Indicator of Income of Multiple Effects (IPREM), so it goes from 480 euros to 570 euros per month.
The following 6 months, the beneficiaries would receive 90% of the IPREM, which means 540 euros per month and, the rest of the period will be 80% of the IPREM, that is 480 euros per month.
In addition, this subsidy benefits groups that did not have this coverage, such as people under 45 years of age without family responsibilities, Spanish emigrants returned without the right to contributory benefit or those over 16 years of age victims of gender or sexual violence.
Not only that, as explained by the Delegate of the Government, among the measures approved by the Executive is the compatibility of employment and unemployment benefits. “The ‘Employment Support Supplement’ is introduced, the instrument of compatibility of both the unemployment benefit and the ordinary benefit, with employment incorporation,” he explained.
Something, he has apostilled, that will make it possible to make a job or a scholarship compatible with the payment of both the subsidy and unemployment. A situation may be prolonged for a maximum period of 6 months.
It also means the accumulation of the breastfeeding permit as a right and that is that among the measures implemented by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, the possibility of accumulating the paid hours of absence for breastfeeding in full days is foreseen as a right of all workers and without the need, therefore, for this option to be included in the collective agreement or in an agreement with the company.
More protection, less paperwork
The head of the Government Delegation has stressed that the new rule simplifies the regulation in order to guarantee more flexibility in access to aid and reduce administrative burdens, thus making it easier for citizens to process benefits.
“The waiting month is eliminated to be able to apply for the subsidy when unemployment is exhausted in order to avoid gaps in the coverage of the most vulnerable groups,” he said.
“This way,” he added, “if the applicants meet the requirements, they will be able to access the aid immediately after its approval.” What’s more, the deadline for applying for unemployment benefits now extends to six months, offering more flexibility and time.
The deduction in the amount of the subsidy for part-time work is also eliminated, so that these workers are now guaranteed the same rights as full-time employees and will thus receive the full amount of the amount.
The requirement of insufficient income has been modified to facilitate compliance, since income can be calculated individually or by family unit and renovations will be carried out quarterly to streamline and reduce the bureaucratic burden.
