The Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, together with the Government subdelegate, Pilar Trinidad, met this afternoon with representatives of the Federation of Associations of Parents of Students Francisco Giner de los Ríos.
The meeting was attended by its president, María Carmen Morillas Vallejo, the vice president, José Manuel Simancas Jiménez and the secretary, Leticia Fierros Moreno, in addition to the treasurer, Ángela Sesto Yagüe.
The meeting is part of the round of meetings that the Delegation is holding with political, economic and social agents, in addition to being a personal commitment made between Martín and Morillas to address the analysis of the situation of Education in our region.
The meeting dealt with topics such as the Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments promoted by the Ministries of Interior, Education and Professional Training and Equality. A framework in which police professionals and experts address issues such as Internet risks, bullying, gender violence, youth gangs or drugs and alcohol. The VioGén System or the importance of encouraging the participation of students and families in the educational system have been some other topics that have been discussed at the meeting and in which both parties have agreed to work hand in hand to continue moving forward.
Federation of Associations of Fathers and Mothers of Students Francisco Giner de los Ríos
The FAPA Francisco Giner de los Ríos is the Federation of the Community of Madrid of Associations of Parents of Students, a non-profit entity, which is formed by associations of parents whose sons and daughters are educated in non-university public centers. There are also associations of private concerted centres integrated into this federation.
Created in 1977, it advocates that its objectives are “to promote actions aimed at the development of quality, participatory, free and supportive education, thus contributing to the integral education of students, within the framework of a school financed with public funds, secular, pluralistic, scientific, humanistic, non-sexist, and democratically managed, that is aware of the characteristics of its environment and integrates the differences of the students”.
There are currently a thousand federated associations belonging to public centres and supported with public funds, which represent more than 200,000 associates directly in these associations, who are mothers and fathers of the students of educational centres in the Community, grouped in delegations and areas.
