The General Directorate of Civil Aviation has chaired the meeting of the Airport Coordination Committee of La Rioja. In the course of this, the current situation of the installation located in Agoncillo has been analyzed.
The current situation presents a gradual recovery of passenger traffic after the pandemic. In 2023, 16,728 passengers were reached, 41.5% more than in the previous year. The Riojano airport has regular flights six days a week with AS Madrid-Barajas, in addition to the international charter links that are scheduled in Semana Santa and local holidays. In 2024 there are scheduled links to Germany, Poland, Turkey, Slovenia and Greece.
The work of the airport manager is also reflected in the section on airport marketing, which has been the subject of analysis during the meeting. In addition to the powerful incentive plan announced a few weeks ago for airports with less than 3 million passengers, Aena works constantly, together with local institutions, in promoting the airport with airlines and in the main meetings of the sector in which the strategy of the airlines is decided.
The meeting chaired by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility was attended by the General Director of Infrastructure of the Government of La Rioja, Gema Álvarez, the General Director of Tourism and Territorial Promotion, Virginia Borges, the Director of the Promotion Area of the Government Delegation in La Rioja, Daniel Lorenzo, as well as representatives of local entities, economic and social organizations and Aena.
The meeting has taken place in a cordial atmosphere that has reflected the good harmony between all the agencies and institutions, with a clear desire for coordination to continue working for the future of the Logroño–Agoncillo Airport.
The Airport Coordination Committees (CCAs) allow the participation of the autonomous communities, local entities and civil society in the development strategy of the airports located in their territories.
The CCAs constitute spaces for efficient dialogue between the airport manager and the territory, safeguarding the operator’s management autonomy. Its objective is that the airport infrastructures incorporate and anticipate the necessary demands for the economic and social progress of the communities in which they are located, and at the same time, contribute from each territory to guarantee the competitiveness of the airports and the sustainability of the airport system.
