Adif will invest more than 9 million euros in the modernization of the signalling and telecommunications system between the stations of Cáceres and Valencia de Alcántara.
Specifically, the company will install a Single Track Automatic Release Lock (BLAU) system, which will work with Centralized Traffic Control (CTC), replacing the phone lock.
The actions included in the tender include the installation of new state-of-the-art electronic interlocks in Arroyo-Malpartida and Valencia de Alcántara; and the modification of the current electronic interlock of Cáceres to adapt it to the new blocking relationship.
In addition, the control of the new electronic interlocks and automatic locks (whose control at the stations is carried out by the local command post) from the CTC of Seville will be integrated.
Likewise, a new optical fiber telecommunications system will be installed between Cáceres and Arroyo-Malpartida.
The mobile telecommunications between Cáceres and Valencia de Alcántara are resolved through the implementation of a tren-ground communications system, based on the use of satellite technology, which allows the train driver to contact the Traffic Regulation Center (CRC) at any point of the journey, and vice versa.
The railway line between the two stations is 95.7 km long and runs through the provinces of Badajoz and Cáceres. On this route, it is also planned to carry out renovation and improvement works in the interlocks of the stations of Cáceres, Arroyo-Malpartida and Valencia de Alcántara.
These actions are part of Adif’s investment strategy in the conservation and renewal of the conventional railway.
In addition, they contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, which promotes reliable, sustainable and quality infrastructures.
